About Safe Start

What does Safe Start do?
  • Responds to inquiries and requests from the public and health care professionals
  • Partners with safety coalitions, advisory committees and other injury prevention stakeholders
  • Advocates for legislative change
  • Works with community groups to teach injury prevention strategies and implement change at the local level
  • Develops awareness campaigns and resources in partnership with corporate sponsors.

The Safety Station Canada’s only hospital-based safety centre and baby-proofing shop – a combined education and fundraising initiative.
First Ride
A program to help support BC postpartum nurses to ensure baby's first ride home is a safe one.
Hot Water Burns Like Fire! An awareness and advocacy campaign to lower pre-set temperatures on household hot water tanks
Display Loan Program A free safety display for temporary use by non-profit programs at special events, health fairs and conferences.
Child Safety Poster Series A series of six laminated posters that carry different child safety messages. For purchase or loan.
