Welcome to Safe Start and the Safety Station.

Did you know that more children die each year in Canada from preventable injuries than from all diseases combined?  This is why we at BC Children's Hospital are interested not only in treating injuries, but in preventing them.  Injuries don't just happen:  they are not "accidents".  Injuries are predictable and preventable.  In fact, up to 90% of all injuries can be prevented!

Safe Start, the injury prevention program of BC Children's Hospital developed this website to help you keep your child safe in and around your home.  The Safety Station, a program of Safe Start, is a safety and resource centre in BC Children's Hospital and offers more information about safety as well as products to protect your infant and child.  Get on board and let us put you on the right track to keeping your child safe and injury free.
