Find health information, family support resources, child safety information or good resources for kids and teens.

Libraries and resource centres


There several lending libraries and resource centres located at BC Children's Hospital serving families living in BC.

  • A-Z child health pamphlets: created by BC Children's Hospital, Vancouver Coastal Health, Interior Health Authority and the Government of Canada

  • AboutKidsHealth: BC Children’s Hospital has partnered with AboutKidsHealth to bring our patients and families a trusted online source for child health information. This interactive site features resource centres and how the body works

  • C&W Bookstore: You can purchase selected items found in our libraries from the online C&W Bookstore

  • The Family Support & Resource Centre and Sunny Hill Education Resource Centre provide health information free of charge. They will also mail out resources at no cost to families, health providers and educators within BC

  • The Kelty Resource Centre: a provincial resource centre that works to link children, youth and their families with appropriate resources in all areas of mental health, addictions and eating disorders. It is located at BC Children's Hospital and is operated by the BC Mental Health & Addiction Services

Healthy living


Two BC Children’s Hospital programs focus on helping kids choose a healthy lifestyle.

  • The Centre for Healthy Weights – BC involves the whole family in making lifestyle changes, such as adopting healthy eating habits and being more physically active
  • Healthy Buddies™ is a unique, child-centred health promotion program targeting attitudes and behaviours around physical activity, healthy eating, healthy beverage consumption, healthy growth and development and healthy body image

Family support 


There are a variety of family support services and groups available at BC Children’s and Sunny Hill.

This information will help if you are:

  • looking to meet parents who have been through a shared experience

  • looking for some help to understand information in your language of choice

  • need support if your family is grieving

If you are involved in a support group and you require some funds, please check the Family Support Group Network Funding Program.


Child safety


There is valuable information available from Safe Start about keeping infants and children safe. You can also purchase many infant and children safety product from the Safety Station.

  • a checklist under each section to make sure you know what to bring, and how you can prepare your child for his or her hospital experience
