Preparing for your first appointment at the ADHD Clinic
In advance of the first appointment, we will send you some questionnaires (rating scales) to be filled out and brought with you on your first visit to the clinic. For
children and adolescents, we need parents and teacher(s) to complete a questionnaire about how the child functions at home and school. For adolescents, we need the same information, plus the adolescent needs to complete a self report.
When you come to the ADHD Clinic for your appointment, you will be seen by a clinical expert in ADHD. The clinician may see you alone or in combination with one of the following: child psychiatrist, pediatrician, nurse clinician, psychologist, social worker, and/or occupational therapist. Once the clinician has completed the assessment, he or she will work with you to make recommendations as to the best treatment plan. A report will be sent to the patient or family and the referral source (e.g. your family doctor).
As a teaching facility, the clinic often has students who observe or participate in the assessment process. We appreciate your cooperation in their learning experience.
