Infectious Diseases & Emergency Medicine Training Program, Shanghai, China
The objectives of the Infectious Diseases and the Emergency Medicine Training Programs are:
To train a total of 22 paediatricians from across the PRC who wish to specialize in pediatric infectious diseases and pediatric emergency medicine.
To develop a system for postgraduate pediatric infectious diseases and emergency medicine/critical care training for Children’s Hospital of Fudan University, one of the designated national pediatric training centres in China, which is comprehensive and eventually self-sustaining.
To upgrade the professional and clinical skills of the emergency department of Children’s Hospital of Fudan University and strive to improve the network of care in emergency medicine hospitals.
To promote the development of expertise in clinical infectious diseases and emergency/critical care.
To promote excellence in the practice of infection control.
To enhance surveillance of both community and hospital-acquired infections of children.
To promote collaboration within the hospital between the differing pediatric disciplines, in order to maximize the expertise and training opportunities of the Infectious Diseases Specialists.
To promote the prevention of infectious diseases of children through liaison with the Centre for Disease Control in Shanghai and with the Public Health Immunization Service.
To evaluate the knowledge acquisition and skills of trainees at regular intervals throughout the training process.
To develop and implement broad measures of program success between the two institutions.
To conduct a follow-up evaluation with trainees one year following completion of the programs assessing implementation of new skills and knowledge in their home regions.
