CPR Recertification

What is this program? How does it work?

You can re-certify your CPR in a blended learning environment in just ONE HOUR! One hour recertification classroom sessions are offered several times a week. You must complete the online CPR pre-test before demonstrating your skills. Pre-readings and the open-book pre-tests are available at the Hamber Library (Room 2H44).

New Protocols!

The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada and the American Heart Association are now teaching the same CPR protocols in accordance to the new CPR guidelines of November 2005.

Critical Concepts

  • Push hard, push fast: compress at a rate of 100 compressions per minute
  • Allow full chest recoil after each compression
  • New ratio of 30:2 (1-2 rescuers) HCP 15:2 (2 rescuers)
  • Early defibrillation: chances of survival increase close to 50% if an AED is properly and effectively used

Reference book: BLS for Healthcare Providers - available for reference use in Eric Hamber Library and Family Resource Library. Books may be purchased at the Family Resource Library for $16.00 (includes DVD)

Register via the LearningHub (you will need to log in to the LearningHub before you can register for the course).
