Simulation Centre

The Simulation Centre includes several rooms that closely resemble a typical emergency or acute care environment. High-fidelity sophisticated baby, child and adult computer based human-patient simulators have been purchased, as well as other low and medium fidelity simulators and task trainers. Simulators allow physicians, nurses and other health care staff to practice clinical skills, interprofessional communications and teamwork, so that they become fully confident and competent to manage critical situations in health care. Simulations allow practice to a mastery level with no risk to patients.

EDUCATION FOR NON-PHSA STAFF

Classroom-based education offerings for non-PHSA staff are listed in the Education Online Calendar.

Online courses available to non-PHSA staff are listed under Workshops and Courses.

Note: If you are an employee of PHSA, you should complete any training courses through the LearningHub to allow for your test scores and progress to be recorded.

STUDENT PRACTICE

As an academic health care centre, student practice education is valued and supported. Student practice placements are arranged in collaboration with many college and university academic programs provincially, nationally and internationally. Affiliation agreements with the academic institutions requesting placements are established through Learning and Development.

There is also information about educational opportunities within specialties that are listed under Clinical Practice.
