About the Study
Part II of the HPV Vaccine study is underway!
We are currently contacting the participants who were involved in the first part of this study. We are inviting them to take part in the second half of the study. In order to evaluate the long-term effects of this vaccine, we would like to gather 2 more blood samples.
What is the HPV Vaccine Study?
A new research study to provide important public health information
A study sponsored by the BC Government
Purpose of the Study?
To answer an important public health question -- are 2 doses of HPV vaccine in girls 9-13 years old as good as 3 doses
in 16 - 26 years old girls and young women?
There are many reasons why we want to look at the dosing schedule:
We know that the immune response (level of protection) is 1.7-2 times greater in young adolescents who are given three
doses than in 16-26 year olds who are given the same.
Giving more vaccine than we need to is wasteful.
Dosing studies provide us the information we need to offer the best, most cost-effective vaccine delivery program.
