Patients participate in a daily program, Monday through Friday. The schedule includes a school program, social skills groups, recreation activities, and community outings. Staff can provide more detailed information about the program as needed.
On Thursday evenings, the nursing staff coordinates a parents’ group to provide education and support. This is an important component of the program.
Evenings and weekends on the ward are less structured, but activities and outings may be planned by staff for patients who do not have visitors.
Visiting hours
Monday – Friday 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 .pm.
There are no visiting hours on Sunday evenings, when teens are coming back from weekend passes, as this can be a very busy time. When the teens and their parents return from a weekend pass, they are expected to meet with a member of nursing staff to discuss how the weekend went.
Weekend passes are common. However, they are decided by the patient’s care team (parents are key members of this team). These passes are discussed on admission and prior to weekends. Parents, patients and the team are asked to participate in setting goals for the weekend. This is usually done during the family meetings or with nursing staff prior to the weekend.
