What we do
Assessment and treatment
The primary focus of the clinic team is consultation to families, schools, community agencies, and health care professionals who are dealing with situations that require special expertise because of their unusual severity or complexity.
For example, we assess problems with emotions, behaviour and thinking in patients with autism spectrum disorders, birth defects, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, alcohol spectrum and other substance-related neurodevelopmental disorders, genetic disorders, moderate to profound intellectual disabilities, obsessive compulsive disorder, seizure disorders, sleep disorders, tics and Tourette syndrome.
Due to the complexity of the conditions experienced by the children and youth that come to the clinic, and the lack of local resources, short-term and in some cases extended treatment may be required.
Education
We teach children, adolescents and their families about the condition(s) that brought them to our clinic. When appropriate, we link them with support, resources, and informed advocacy.
