What we do

The clinic provides outpatient psychiatric consultation for adolescents with problems of substance use who may have additional co-occurring mental health issues. Specifically the clinical services include:
  • A psychiatric consultation with special attention to the role of substances in the diagnostic assessment. If the youth is already under the care of a psychiatrist, this would serve as a second opinion regarding diagnostic and treatment issues in the face of problem substance use.
  • Education regarding the acute and long-term medical and psychiatric effects of problem substance use.
  • Brief liaison with school and community resources.

The process of assessment and consultation can take from one to five appointments, each lasting one hour.
