This information is required to refer a patient to any of the Children’s Heart Center services. For further information, please contact Children’s Heart Centre at 604-875-2120.

 

Cardiology

Emergency or inpatient transfers

For inpatient transfers or life-threatening situations
  • Contact the Cardiology Fellow on call through the hospital switchboard at 604-875-2161

Urgent outpatient referrals

For patients who are unable to wait for a scheduled appointment
  • Contact the Cardiology Fellow on call through the hospital switchboard at 604-875-2161
  • Call the Children’s Heart Centre booking desk directly at 604-875-2605

Outpatient Cardiologist Consultations (non-urgent)


To book a new referral or referral for a consultation with one of the BC Children's Heart Centre Cardiologists, please FAX referral letter to (604) 875-3463.  Once the request is received, the Cardiologist will determine the kind of testing required and an appointment will be made.


Outpatient Diagnostic Testing

  • ECG – General practitioners and pediatricians can refer patients from the ages of 0-18 years for an ECG. FAX request form to (604) 875-3463.
  • ECHO – Requests from General Practitioners require a Cardiologist Consult. Pediatricians may refer children from the ages of 3 years and older. Pediatrician referrals for children younger than 3 years require a Cardiologist Consult (due to possible sedation) in addition to ECHO testing. FAX request form to (604) 875-3463.
  • HOLTER – Pediatricians can refer patients for Holter from the ages of 0-18 years. FAX request form to (604) 875-3463

Patient referrals can be faxed with the patient demographics and reason for referral along with any testing they may have had elsewhere to the clinic. The clinic secretary will contact the referring physician’s office with an appointment date and time.
