Thank you for your interest in our 2012-2013 predoctoral residency.
To highlight some of the relevant issues, let me review that we are a CPA accredited clinical residency program and we require students to be from CPA/APA accredited programs. Canadian Immigration regulations are such that preference will be given to Canadian Citizens, or those who can obtain either landed immigrant status, or a student visa. We are an equal opportunity employer and have a strong commitment to maintaining a culturally diverse Psychology Department. We conduct either in person or telephone interviews with all selected candidates. Both types of interviews are equally valid and we have selected candidates from both groups in the past. In other words, although we would love to see you in person, we don’t expect you to go into debt to fly to the west coast for an interview and it will not adversely affect your chances of being selected. We are using the APPIC universal application (AAPI). The APPIC will be completed and submitted on-line (see specific instructions on the APPIC website and in our Residency Information and Application Package). We will take part in APPIC’s computer matching program on selection day (see APPIC Match Policies). Consequently, in order for you to be selected for our program, you must be registered with the computer matching system. You can get information on how to register from the APPIC Web Site at: http://www.appic.org.
Please note: Due to APA's decision not to accredit Canadian programs as of September 2015, we have decided not to apply for APA re-accreditation. We will continue to be CPA accredited for the 2012-2013 internship year.
Again, thank you for your interest in our internship program. If you need any further information, please feel free to call me at (604) 875-2147, this is the Psychology office number, or my direct number (604) 875-2345, Ex. 5174, or e-mail me at: mransby@cw.bc.ca.
