Network

The Provincial Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Network is an integrated, multidisciplinary organization of health care professionals including parent advocates, under the guidance of BC Children’s Hospital and the BC Cancer Agency. The network supports community hospitals and practitioners, and develops partnerships with other health care facilities to enable seamless and integrated care for patients and families on treatment and off treatment.

Mission


To reduce the burden of cancer and blood disorders in children and adolescents living in BC.

Objectives


  • To ensure all children and adolescents with cancer or blood disorders in BC have access to state-of-the-art comprehensive, interdisciplinary care, achieved through appropriate diagnosis, management, follow-up and end-of-life care.
  • To facilitate greater involvement of community care for children and families with cancer and blood disorders.
  • To implement a comprehensive pediatric cancer control strategy.
  • To further develop and enhance research programs into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancers in children and adolescents.

Administrative structure and reporting mechanism


  • It is a working group of the Provincial Health Services Authority Child Health Network.
  • It forms a link with non-governmental organizations and forms a network with patients, families and health care professionals.
