Gastroenterology operates the pediatric endoscopy and procedure suite and provides a full range of Gastroentestinal procedures, most of which occur under intravenous sedation.
Physicians have weekly assigned operating room time for complex procedures with the total dedicated time approximately 13 hours per week for endoscopy procedures. In 2004/05 we had a total of 754 endoscopy procedures and in 2002/03 there were 678 endoscopic procedures and 98 other procedures. Non-sedated procedures include menometry, pH probe placement and breath tests, which are all conducted with physician supervision.
