Clinical Guidelines


In conjunction with the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, the Oak Tree Clinic has developed clinical guidelines for the treatment of HIV-positive women during labour and delivery and infants born to HIV-positive women. These guidelines also address the treatment of pregnant women who are at high risk of having HIV infection.

The Canadian Consensus Guidelines for the management of pregnancy, labour and delivery and for postpartum care in HIV-positive pregnant women and their offspring published June 2003 in the Canadian Medical Journal is available here .(PDF)

The treatment guidelines for pediatric HIV positive patients is published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is available here (link)
