About 1,000,000 children live in BC, fifteen per cent (150,000 BC children) are recognized as having a developmental disability.
Sunny Hill provides services to more than 5,000 children annually from nearly 300 BC communities. We provide service to children in their own communities by outreach services (28 per cent) at Sunny Hill as outpatients (65 per cent) and as inpatients (7 per cent).
All services are designed to strengthen and support the child development and rehabilitation service network.
We are leaders in delivering our educational information and clinical services throughout BC via videoconferencing (Telehealth).
Some 150 students attend clinics and clinical rotations every year for training in physical and occupational therapies, nursing, speech and language pathology, social work, psychology, education and medicine. We are one of few sites in Canada providing subspecialty training for Developmental Pediatricians. More than 300 children and their families are involved in the ongoing research at Sunny Hill, a number equaled by community professionals who participate in research here.
