Learning & Education

Sunny Hill is dedicated to promoting the healthy development of children. We are also a resource for educational services and information about disabilities. Sunny Hill is part of a larger academic health science centre, associated with the University of British Columbia as well as other universities and colleges across Canada. This association gives Sunny Hill the opportunity to take a leadership role in enhancing knowledge and understanding in the field of child development and rehabilitation, and to evaluate and promote innovative approaches to delivering service.

Sunny Hill's committment to sharing information with families and to continuing education for health professionals includes:

Specialty Websites

Sunny Hill has several specialized websites that help to distribute information and promote learning and education. They are: Child Development and Rehabilitation - CDR, Seating and Mobility, Tele-CDR, Walkipedia (Gait Lab)

Innovative Learning

Sunny Hill uses new technology such as online mentoring via iChat, self-paced learning on the Sunny Hill e-Learning website , and videoconferencing using Telehealth (also see our Tele-CDR page) to provide educational opportunities for both health professionals and members of the community.

SHERC

The Sunny Hill Education Resource Centre - SHERC - is an on-site resource library where both families and professionals can learn about developmental disabilities and borrow materials free of charge
