Hearing Loss

The Hearing Loss Team offers expertise about hearing loss for children from birth to 19 years of age who require:
  • Medical, otological or family support consultation about recently diagnosed, significant, permanent hearing loss
  • Further assessment or consultation about developmental concerns (hearing loss, communication, motor skills, learning, behaviour and education) or other diagnoses
The Team focuses on:
  • Supporting families and informing them about hearing loss and management options
  • Assessing a child’s development to identify or rule out other conditions and needs
  • Working collaboratively with families, BC Children’s Hospital services and community partners
  • Maintaining current information about local, national and international resources
  • Advocating for children with hearing loss to reach their optimal development
  • Supporting and participating in research about all aspects of childhood hearing loss
