Positioning & Mobility
The Positioning and Mobility Team provides seating, positioning, and mobility services to meet the needs of children with motor disabilities. These services are offered in response to requests from the primary community rehabilitation team.
The team sees children at Sunny Hill as inpatients, on site, or during provincial regional outreaches. Approximately 30 per cent of the children seen by the team receive services on a community visit basis. These visits occur in regional centers where a workshop is outfitted. An equipped van is also available to go to selected sites.
Education for families and professionals is a component of the outreach service. The team provides student lectures, clinics and regional workshops delivered on site, via telehealth, and by internet. Please see
Seating and Mobility
for more information..
The team sponsors the
International Seating Symposium
, which is held in Vancouver. This biannual symposium is attended by professionals worldwide who share a focus on wheelchair seating and positioning.
A Seating Simulator for Remote Assessment is currently under development.
