Preschool
The Preschool Team is a provincial resource providing diagnostic assessment services for children aged three to five years with a suspected neurodevelopmental impairment. Children seen by the team typically have multiple difficulties in the areas of learning, attention, socialization, language and motor skill development.
The preschool team is made up of professionals who support the child’s community team. For some children, the initial assessment may not be on site, rather it may occur by linking to community resources. Assessments are designed to meet the child’s individual needs and address the concerns raised by parents and the community team. The timing of the child’s assessment will be determined by careful consideration of the concerns raised by parents and the community team and the goals of the assessment. Assessment for school entry is optimally provided when the child is four years old.
