Therapeutic Recreation

A sense of play is important
Who Do We See?
We see children with disabilities and their families from across BC. Your child can be referred by your physician or another Sunny Hill Team.

What Do We Do?
We...

  • work with you to find out what recreational opportunities will work best with your child and what is available in your community
  • try different activities to see what your child enjoys
  • suggest ways to help your child do what he or she likes
  • have some adaptive recreation equipment available that your child may want to try
  • work with you and your child's teachers on both school and home activities that focus on your child's strengths and abilities

Aquatics Music can be part of therapeutic recreation
we look at your child to see if there is special equipment and techniques to help your child in the water. We will also look into what is available in your pool at home and help you learn how to support your child safely in the water.

Music Therapy
(for inpatients)
we help your child with communication, self expression, self awareness, motor, and cognitive skills

Who Are We?

We are a group of Recreation Therapists who believe that fun activities are vital for a child's health. We also have Recreation Therapists who specialize in Adapted Aquatics and a Music Therapist who sees inpatients
