The Surgery/Surgical Suites Program provides diagnostic and treatment services for infants and children from 14 weeks gestation to 17 years of age. The program includes the Surgical Suites, 3R-surgical inpatient unit and ambulatory clinics including: Cleft Palate and Craniofacial, Dental, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Pre-admission and Urology. The inpatient unit includes the Burn Unit that provides care for children under the age of six. The interdisciplinary staff includes surgeons, anesthetists, social workers, psychologists, nurses, support staff, dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and child life specialists.
The Surgery Program provides outreach clinics in Gibsons and Prince George.

The department is committed to meeting the education needs of staff on a continuous basis. Each year, several staff from the program are sponsored to attend the applicable professional conferences and educational events. The department serves as a Canadian resource for expanded teaching in pediatric orthopedics by providing elective rotations to orthopedic residents from Calgary and Queen's University.
