Family Library

The Family Library empowers patients, families, supporters, and community members with health information. People in BC and the Yukon can borrow from our collection for free.
What we do

We connect patients, parents, caregivers, siblings, supporters, and members of the public with health resources, free of charge. Our collection includes print books, eBooks, CDs and DVDs, games, and teaching tools.

If you live within BC or the Yukon, you are welcome to:

  • Borrow items from our health collection, and
  • Contact us for help finding health information.
You are welcome check out items in person. Or you can request them through our catalogue, by email, or by phone, and we will mail them to you. 

Visit us in-person to:

  • Use our computers, Internet, fax, and printer, and
  • Borrow from our fun reads collection.

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre

The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre is a provincial resource that works to link children, youth and their families with appropriate resources in all areas of mental health and addictions.


Did you know: You can buy the Taming Worry Dragons series through Kelty! Pick-up on campus, or get your purchase by mail.

Can I borrow?

If you are in British Columbia or the Yukon, you can borrow resources free of charge.

How do I borrow?

Search the online library catalogue. Or, email us at familylibrary@cw.bc.ca.

I don't live near the library, how can I get books?

We mail physical items for free to any location in British Columbia or the Yukon.

How long can I borrow?

All physical items are available for 4 weeks. If there is not a waitlist, you may renew your resources up to 3 times.

eBook loan times vary.
Get help finding information

If you do not find the information you need in our catalogue, contact us. Our librarian can assist you in finding information, including:

  • Resources from your local public library
  • High-quality online information for patients and families
  • Research evidence, including open-access journal articles, and titles and abstracts of paid journal articles
