What is the Auxiliary
The auxiliary is a self-governing membership organization. It is an entity that can be an independent corporation, or an unincorporated association - that is accountable directly to the hospital's administration. The auxiliary is founded by persons from the community who agree to work together to assist a health care institution in promoting the health and welfare of the community. The auxiliary's board of directors has ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the auxiliary organization on behalf of the total membership and in the interests of the institution. The auxiliary board serves as the leadership body, formulating policy and plans for the auxiliary. The responsibilities of the auxiliary board vary across health care institutions.
