Family Support Group/Network Funding

Every year, the BC Children’s Hospital Support Groups/Networks Funding Committee reaffirms its commitment to helping grass roots parent support groups by providing funds. These funds are available to families with children with a physical or mental disability/disorder who offer direct parent to parent support.

These grass root parent support groups are often dependent on the energy of one or two parents already challenged with the additional care required by a child with a health condition.  For this reason, the grant application is simple to fill out and does not take a lot of time.

The money is generously provided by the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Grants are available to grass roots family support groups and networks. Money is available for

  • Comfort funds for groups that hold regular support group meetings. These funds provide the little extras that make meetings more comfortable such as refreshments.
  • Extended funds for established groups who maintain any structured form of ongoing communication such as newsletters, regular mailings or speakers.
  • Special funding for a one-time event or project.  If you are applying for a special project, please use this project plan template  with your application form.

To be considered for funding, you will need to fill in an application form. The 2011 form is not yet available - please check back. We have also prepared some templates that you can use to assist with your application.

For all groups applying, you are required to fill in the income and expense template   and include it with your application submission.

For groups that have been funded previously, please fill in the final report template  and include it with your application submission.
