First Nation's Patient Advocate
When Aboriginal families are at Children’s, our First Nations Patient Advocate helps you get the information and support you need. We can:
Support and comfort patients and families
Provide access to emergency clothing
Provide care packages
Inform you about First Nations Health Benefits Program
Assist you if you have a complaint
Connect you with Aboriginal & community resources
Accompany patient to medical appointments while on site at Children’s, BC Women’s & Sunny Hill
Network (liaise) with on site health care team (nurses, doctors, other health care professionals)
Connect you with an elder for spiritual & emotional support
The First Nations Patient Advocate is available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m at 604-875-3440
or 1-888-300-3088 (outside lower mainland).
