Membership

The Partners in Care Family Advisory is made up of dedicated Children's staff and family members.  Family members and staff interested in serving as members of the advisory should contact the Partners in Care Family Liaison.

Currently we have close to forty local and regional family members serving in three family membership categories and 12 staff / administrative members.  Some participants are recruited, others volunteer.  We encourage our members to stay on the committee for as long as they have interest and time to fulfill their role and duties.  Membership categories include:

  1. Family Member
    • attends monthly PiC FA meetings.
    • sits on one or more hospital or PiC working groups / sub-committees.

  2. Hospital and Community Partnership Member
    • serves as a Hospital and Community Partnership member for a PiC sub-committee, a PiC email-based "virtual" working group, or a
      hospital committee / working group.
    • attends any PiC FA monthly meeting.
    • serves as a Liaison between the PiC FA and his/her community group.

  3. Regional Family Member
    • members who live in various parts of the Province, outside of the Lower Mainland.
    • sits on one or more "virtual" working groups / sub-committees.
    • attends any PiC FA monthly meeting if possible.
    • may or may not serve as a PiC representative and family contact support person in their community.

  4. Staff Member
    • attends monthly PiC FA meetings.
    • sits on one or more hospital or PiC working groups / sub-committees.

  5. Virtual Focus Group Family Member (Volunteer in Your PJ's!)

    • sits on one or more "virtual" working groups / sub-committees.

Partners in Care Family Advisory Members must:

    • Be committed to the idea of positive change.
    • Be an active listener.
    • See a "broad range" view of challenges within the system.
    • Understand and promote family-centred care.
    • Serve as a role model for other families in collaborative relationships within the healthcare system.
