Engagement

We are committed to meaningful engagement with key partners and the community to inform the design of the new centre and its services.

Get involved

If you would like to be involved in engagement activities, please email slocaninfo@phsa.ca

Health-care providers and subject matter experts are integral partners in designing how the services at the new centre will be delivered.  Key staff from BC Children's Hospital are working closely with the project team, providing input through advisory committees and workshops. If you would like to join this process, please reach out to us.

We also want to hear from community care providers and staff from organizations that provide services to children and youth living with health complexity across BC and Yukon. Representatives from regional health authorities and relevant government ministries are also involved in our clinical planning.

Working collaboratively with the Host Nations and Indigenous partners is critical to ensuring that the new services and facility are culturally safe and welcoming to Indigenous children, youth, and their families. The team's Lead, Indigenous Engagement, Partnerships and Cultural Safety will work with Indigenous partners ‎throughout the project.

‎The neighbourhood of Renfrew-Collingwood is proud to have a site that's been offering health-care services for over one hundred years. Residents of this mostly residential neighbourhood are invested in how the new facility will look and how the green space  will continue to be used by the community.

A Community Advisory Group of 24 members representing neighbours and local organizations has been providing the project team and architects with input into the exterior design of the new centre.

The project team also held info pop-ups at the Renfrew Park Community Centre in July and August 2022 to share the latest building designs with community members.

The project team is committed to designing a patient-centred facility. An advisory group of former patients, families and caregivers has been advising the team on the design of the services at the new centre. The group has also been advising on the design of the new facility, to ensure that it meets the needs of children with complex health-care needs and their families.  Opportunities to continue advising the team throughout the project are available.
