Dermatology Referral

Referral to the BC Children’s Hospital Dermatology Clinic is open to all physicians and nurse practitioners in BC.
The Dermatology Clinic consists primarily of outpatient consultations. Telephone and email consultations are available to assist the care of BC children who are unable to travel to Vancouver for assessment and treatment, and for urgent matters. Teleconsultations received through ConsultDerm BC  are reviewed every Wednesday.

Phototherapy is available to children under the care of staff dermatologists as well as to those referred to us by community-based medical practitioners.

We do not offer allergy testing in our clinic.  Allergy testing is performed in the Allergy Clinic.  Patch testing for contact dermatitis is not currently performed at BCCH.

Referrals form

Fax the completed form to 604-875-3076.

Referrals process

1Complete the referral form

Complete the referral form and fax it to 604-875-3076.

2Include tests

Include any previous relevant tests, reports and consultations with the referral.  Please do not fax clinical photographs, as they will not come through clearly on our fax machine.

3Wait for an appointment

Once the referral is received, the clinic will call the patient to book the appointment. All referrals are triaged – the current wait time for non-urgent appointments is around seven months but many of our patients are seen much faster than that.

While awaiting an appointment, please refer to our dermatology resources page for suggestions on symptom management.
