Tone Management
The Tone Management Clinic is part of Sunny Hill Health Centre.
We evaluate children and youth with muscle tone issues like spasticity or dystonia, and who may have cerebral palsy. We look at how these issues affect their comfort and how they participate in activities. We then discuss treatment options with families and caregivers, including physical therapy, medication or surgery recommendations.
Referral information
To access our services, patients need a referral from a health-care provider.
Providers can find more details on the process via the Tone Management Referral page.
Appointment details
Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment to register at reception. Bring a list of your child or youth's medications and their usual stroller, seating system or wheelchair.
Appointments typically take 90 minutes. Our team will see you and your child or youth to discuss your concerns.
They will complete a history and an exam to feel your child's muscle tone. This doesn't hurt and involves moving your child or youth's arms, legs and body. We will discuss our ideas to help your child or youth with their muscle tone and will share a plan which may include therapy, referrals to other physicians, medications and follow-up.
