Audiology Referral
We offer diagnostic hearing assessment for any child or youth under age 19 who is a resident of B.C. or Yukon and who meets any of the required criteria.
For information about referrals to the Cochlear Implant Program or the Bone Conduction Implant Program, see the Otolaryngology (Head and Neck) Referral page.
Patients must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for referral to the Audiology Clinic:
- Previous community testing has been incomplete or unsuccessful
- Hearing cannot be tested behaviourally (either due to age or medical complexity)
- Referred after hearing screening, and BC Children's Hospital is the most convenient location for the family
- Receiving, or due to receive, medications that could damage their ears or a bone marrow transplant
- Referred by doctors or clinics at BC Children's Hospital in other programs, including Sunny Hill Health Centre
- Enrolled in the Neonatal Follow-up Program or the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Program
- May be a candidate for a cochlear implant
- Requires hearing testing from the BC Children's Hospital Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) service
