"Where you are" - a new podcast from the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre

Supporting a child with a mental health issue presents unique challenges and can be an isolating experience for parents. Now a new podcast will help parents and caregivers going through this feel less alone.

​The podcast from The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre at BC Children's Hospital, is called Where You Are and hears real stories from parents of kids with mental health issues and includes expert insight from leading mental health professionals from BC Children's.

The podcast aims to meet you where you are in your mental health journey – whether you're a parent of a child with a mental health issues or just interested in learning more.

Each episode explores a different hot topic such as anxiety, mental resiliency or sleep and challenges the myths, stereotypes and stigmas that surround these issues.

When parents feel more confident in supporting their children, it's easier for them to thrive and overcome obstacles. Parents build their confidence through getting the right information and tools and through getting the emotional and practical support they need.

Our hosts, Char Black and Michelle Horn, both part of the Health Literacy team at BC Children's, challenge help to connect families to reliable information, meaning listeners walk away more informed and equipped with resources and practical strategies to mental health and wellness at home.
